Pools by Ricketts was founded in 1979 by George Ricketts Sr., a retired military man looking to begin a second successful career, together with his wife Dee and son Butch. They began to ply their new trade in their hometown of Madera, beginning with neighbors and friends that made it seem more like play than work.

After the death of George Sr., Butch convinced his wife Laura to join in expanding the company to include a retail location where they would carry swimming pool products and accessories. With Butch, Dee, and Laura working together, the business soon expanded again to include swimming pool remodels and weekly pool service, as well as tile cleaning and equipment repair. Soon the third generation of Ricketts, Butch and Laura's daughters Lisa and Amanda, began to get with what had now become a family affair. After paying her dues in the store, Lisa joined in full time as retail store manager in 1995. Amanda graduated from high school that same year and continues her summertime employment with the company as she pursues her college education.

By 1997 the small family business had grown to the point where it supported 7 additional full time employees with temporary helpers added on during the summertime. We are now proud to say that our crew consists of fully trained professionals, most of who have been with us for years. We have expert designers, experienced repairmen, and certified water technicians with over 100 years of combined experience. We look forward to continued growth and expanding services as new technologies are constantly adding to the possibilities for your own private backyard paradise.
